TIVO is a good thing. Fast forward through the ads. Always more things recorded that we want to watch than we can watch- which is a real change from “400 channels and nothing on”.
Yes, Virginia, there is T.V. worth watching on American T.V.:
KING OF THE HILL: here’s something TIVO has taught us- this show is worth multiple watches.
SIMPSONS: still stands up to multiple watching.
SOUTH PARK: been over-dosing on it lately (TIVO). In large doses, its irritating and kind of gross. Note sure that it will stand the test of time as much as, say, King of the Hill.
FAMILY GUY: brilliant. Always. Still.
BBC WORLD NEWS: great. There’s a whole WORLD out there (which, despite its size, the Americans refuse to see).
MONTY PTYHON: challenging too watch- antique, almost quaint, production standards but when I can see past that, I’m still stunned at the anarchy and originality. We watched the dinosaur sketch the other day and I fell off my chair laughing: “ The Theory by A. Elk brackets Miss brackets. My theory is along the following lines. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much MUCH thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is the theory that I have and which is mine, and what it is too.”.
BALLTESTAR GALACITICA: last season- astonishingly original. This season.. I find it better than most things but somehow much less.
STARVED: Helen loves it but I am sooo grossed out by it.
AMERICAN DAD: too bitter.
