At CSEET'06, Barry Boehm was a keynote speaker. In attendance at that conference was a (large) group of people he'd been working with for decades. They threw a little party to honor the man, and his lifelong achivements.
The original plan was quite elaborate. Little invitations were passed out in secret and a beach was selected. A pre-party raiding party took to the beach and drew a huge spiral model on the sand.
Sadly, the weather was crap (rain and wind) so the venue had to move inside to Dan Port's hotel room. While we partied inside, somewhere out there, a risk model was melting into the sand.
